Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 in an Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi was the Romanian gymnastics coach who later became her coach later on found her around the age of six. The first time she competed at the national junior championships of 1969, finishing 13th. She won the competition in 1970. Her first ever international competition in 1972, she won the event by winning three gold awards. In her first international competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion winning four gold and one silver medal. She was the first female ever to perform the backwards double salto while dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. As a teenager she was performing on travelling shows such as Ice Capades as a skater alongside her younger sister Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol's career began in entertainment during her teenage year. Her career began when she joined her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. Ice Capades was a show that featured skaters ice skating with actors.
