Jennifer Garner, born April 17th, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local school. To follow her father, she completed a chemical engineering degree. Since she wanted to be an actress she went into New York. While appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as a waitress. She had a cameo role in the show "Felicity." (It is in this series when she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) Garner had her first big performance in "13 Goin' on 30" the romantic comedy widely praised. She played a teenage woman trapped in the body of an adult. Garner chose Gary Winick (director) to create the film. The two looked for projects that could be made until Winick's death in 2011. Garner was made an ambassador for artists by Save the Children U.S.A. This includes the advancement of literacy, nutrition and early education. Garner has been a member of the board for the non-profit group since 2014. She advocates early preschool education. In her role as an ambassador for the organization, Garner often visits with families involved in the organization's Early Steps to School Success program. The program guides parents on ways to support young children to learn.
